Lol what? The market is already set, it's going to cost at least a 1st round pick to sweeten that deal. Why would Ottawa do this trade?

I don't see why they wouldn't, they have the cap space and are essentially getting a 3rd and 5th round pick, solid top 9 forward (overpaid, yes) who would fit in well in Ottawa, and a decent prospect for nothing. The one thing Vancouver would probably have to do differently is send over a player other than Goldobin, maybe Gaudette instead.

I think the biggest problem with the trade is that it would not conform with the CBA. For the 20-21 season Loui makes 3mil in signing bonus and only 1 mil in salary. I think the CBA allows the retaining of salary not bonus money. Loui only has 2 mil coming in the 19-20 season, the Canucks have already paid the 4mil signing bonus. Ottawa would be getting 500,000 more than he is making and still get a 6mil cap hit to reach the minimum. I don't know if the CBA allows for this.
