Yeah so offense is much worse without him. Then defense is slightly better but not enough to make up for worse offense. Still get bounced in first round, then Babcock gets fired, Barrie leaves and muzzin falls of cliff but forced to resign. Leafs defense gets much worse and rush rookies and then ruin them. Marner never signs and will demand a trade if he sits out that long.

????? Only way this works if those UFAs aren't signed by December 1 and neither is Marner. Leafs can't sign all those UFAs and hope to sign Marner at some time for 2019/20 season.

Marner is not "holding out". He's a RFA by the rules of the NHL and the NHLPA collective agreement. That allows Marner to sign with any team in any league in any country, including the NHL.
So if Marner doesn't sign with any team this season....I guess he just retired for a year.

Who cares, we get bounced with or without Mitch. And who cares if he requests a trade? Doesn't mean we have too trade him! His agent is Dan Ferris, I suggest you go and look at his past with other clients. Marner has been offered MORE than fair market value and turned it down. Yes the offence is worse without him but stats say that Tavares drove that line. If we are that bad then we trade Berrie @ the deadline (a rental of his caliber at only $2.75) could trade Muzzin too as there will be better (or at least better fits for the Leafs) FA available. If Babs gets fired its for his own incompetence not the players he's given. And I doubt Muzzin falls off a cliff in 1 season and even if he does we don't resign him. The rookies are mostly ready now but we have too think of the expansion draft (limits us in trades if we bring them up now). And finally wrong Marner, is in the same boat he's in now only with less leverage, offer him 9.5 ×6, he either takes it, signs a offer sheet or sits out the year! What other choice does he have?

Also, Justin Williams's nickname is literally Mr. Game7 (although he did struggle against the Bruins this year). The rest are crap.

You will have to pay him over 10 mil if it is over 3 years. And he has just as much rights as the leafs. He knows the leafs need him. If a team offersheets him at 3 years at 10.5. It will cost 2 first, 2nd and 3rd and the first can be any combination of 2020- 2023.

I know, he will likely be traded before that contract expires. He doesn't have as much rights as the leafs, they may need him but he needs them more.

Why do you think he has less rights look wat happened with Nylander do u think he settled. No. Marner has led your team the past two years and arguably been the best player past 2 years. If he demands a trade his value will be way lower then offer sheet of 4 first. If marner holds out and leafs struggle in beginning of the year he will be asking for the moon and leafs will have to pay. If they perform well and refuse they will have to trade him.

Look at the stats, Tavares was about the same without Marner, but he struggled without Tavares. Also the leafs cant afford to negotiate with Mitch the same way they did with Nylander (pro rated contract) so he would sit the year. And why would the Leafs need to trade him?

Why did jets have to trade trouba for nothing. Why do oilers have to trade jesse puljujärvi. Eric Lindros. A team will not waste a year of player of that caliber when they could get assets for him.

Because Trouba wanted too play in the state's (and had one year left). Puljujarvi, Edmonton does not have to move until they feel they get the necessary compensation (although not even close to the same level as Marner).

Yeah But why would they waste a year of marner if they could get a package for him. Makes no sense.

This is where the Nylander Dubas assumptions come in. Nylander wanted 8+ on a bridge deal, Dubas wanted 6.6 x 6. They settled on the last day for Dubas' term and 300k more than he wanted. The Jets traded trouba because of their cap crunch, and how he spoke out about how he didn't want to be there for 3+ years. They realized he would leave as a UFA. he had to be moved to retain some value. Pulujarvi has yet to be traded and the oilers made it clear they won't accept anything less that what they believe is fair value.

If Marner doesn't sign by training camp, he won't play this year. The leafs can't afford a pro rated contract. But if you look at his agent Darren ferris, he has a history of sitting out till training camp and then signing for very close to what the team wants.
If the leafs were going to pay Marner 10+ on a short deal, he would be signed now. he's getting 10+ at 6 years+, 4 and 5 years are all but off the table, and 8-9.5 at 2-3 years.

Marner is no more valuable than Aho, and if Dubas proved anything by the Nylander negotiation, he isn't afraid to hold out so that he doesn't sign a player friendly deal.

The leafs would sit out with Marner because there likely isn't deals coming in that would be worth it. The leafs have a window of about 6-8 years where they can contend. Marner sitting out a full season would be far more detrimental to his career than the leafs run. He wouldn't sit out.

I totally agree, however if Dubas traded Mitch and any of the pieces didn't work out...well it's leafs nation (which I'm a part of but would be fine with trading him) enough said. Also it would be Mitch doing it to himself as he's a grown man who can make his own decisions (not his dad or agent or dregs) he's been offered more than market value. Tavares would be hurt the most.
