i still feel like trading him or taking the offer sheet compensation is the best move for TOR, irregardless of whether that means marner goes to the islanders or not

leafs get no UFA years with this and he walks right to free agency. The leafs would give more AAV to Marner at 3 years than 4. I assume 4 is off the table, but if it isnt I doubt the leafs would make an offer exceeding 7.5million at 4 years.

It's not Dubas who needs to be flexible either. Marner is valued the same as Aho, Marner might be a bit better, but Aho plays C which gives him more/equal value. Dubas conceding on both Term and AAV would be disastrous. Would be better having him sit out a year.
