That’s not to bad... maybe a little high on the buffalo trade. I’d hate to give up both Bear and the first.

You add a good amount of value there but Lucic is a deal breaker for me. We're already dealing with Okposo's nasty contract, I've got no interest in adding one that's even worse.

Not to mention that most of the Sabres' fanbase absolutely despises Lucic.

Sorry, Okposo's contract is worse than Lucic's: https://theathletic.com/1070877/2019/07/11/by-the-numbers-a-look-at-the-10-worst-contracts-in-hockey/

I disagree, they're just about identical contracts but I think Okposo is the better player now and has more potential to bounce back than Lucic does, simply because I don't think he was fully back from his health scare last season.

But either way it's semantics. They're both awful contracts and we don't want to have one let alone take on the other.

Lucic's is definitely worse. Okposo still put up 3rd line numbers. Lucic is just... yuck.

Go read the article.

"Contract No. 2 from the hellscape summer of 2016. Many would put Lucic as worse than Okposo, and that’s mighty fair given he’s a worse player with a larger negative surplus value. What’s working in Lucic’s favour is a wider range of uncertainty than Okposo, giving him a slightly better chance to bounce back. His individual offensive numbers are much weaker, but his play-driving numbers are a little stronger, albeit still weak overall.

Honestly, there’s no sense splitting hairs with those two – neither are worth their compensation. At their price, the expectation is 5.9 wins over the next four years. My model has both at less than zero."

Man, it's an opinion piece. Just because it's published in the Athletic doesn't make it gospel.

It's perfectly valid to see either of those contracts as the worse of the two, as Luszczyszyn literally writes out in that quote.

Personally, I think the odds of Okposo showing improvement two years after an incredibly serious health scare are greater than the odds of Lucic turning his regression around, so I'd rather have him. And to me Okposo is the better player in the first place.

Either way, it doesn't matter because they're both objectively bad contracts.

I like lucic better, he had a place in the league at one time, i dont resent that he murdered ryan miller, i resent that we didnt have a team built to respond. All that said, lucic was never a great skater and the game has passed him by. Okposo is an awful contract, but hes still an nhl player- i mean hes a 4th liner at this point.

Are you insinuating that Lucic isn't a 4th line player? Because he is.
