I don't think Bjugstad is enough incentive for BUF to move McCabe

That and Hornqvist has a NTC. I don't think he waives to be traded to OTT, which is what I'm understanding is the point in getting him to BUF. Maybe the only way there is that it's a three way trade, but I'm not sure how OTT would be able to retain salary there on a player they never technically acquired. I think the risk for Hornqvist is there, that OTT doesn't move him out after he waives because they don't find a suitor with a package that they'd want for him, and he's stuck on a rebuilding team.

The idea was Bjugstad is an upgrade for BUF on Girgensons, They also get Hornqvist who would have $2 mill retained from OTT

so a discount Horny and upgrade on Girgensons is what gets you McCabe.

This was how the Deal with OTT and Vegas worked when PIT acquired Brassard Vegas retained $2 mill of his contract and got assets in return. McCabe is worth more than a player in his 30's and a third liner though, Buffalo isn't making that deal.
