2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm not sure what to do with the cap situation. Johnson might be an extra d-man for them and he might be a good guy to send down for cap space. They can't call anybody else up though. Maybe there's a trade coming, but i'm not sure. I don't think they should have signed Brandon Tanev to that deal.

I think we will see one more trade to open some cap, whether that be Rust or Johnson to go. I will be furious if they let Rust go before Johnson. I can see someone taking a flyer on JJ, though. There are plenty of stupid GMs that overvalue veteran presence on the blue line. JJ leaving gives them the opportunity to sign all RFAs, which I think would be pretty close to what you signed them for. I think Blueger gets 2 years, Zar gets 1 year, and Pettersson gets 4+ (if they are smart). Tanev will be a good pick up and I think will help our 4th line, it was just wild to give him 6 years with a modified NTC. Only thing I really disagree with you is the lines. Can't have Kahun and Simon playing 8 minutes a game. This is how I think they will pan out:

McCann-Crosby-Guentzel
Galchenyuk-Malkin-Kahun
Simon-Bjugstad-Hornqvist
ZAR-Bluger-Tanev

The Penguins actually have quite a bit of pieces they can move this year, which is a good thing and a scary thing if GMJR gets impatient.

Would much rather see Hornqvist traded than Rust....wont happen, but I'd try to send Hornq, JMFJ, and a pick to Nashville for Bones

That would be great because Bjugstad can play RW too, but Nashville would be be gaining $4.3M in cap and idk if they can do that. I am sure there are some teams that would love Horny, but only a few that can afford it. I can see ANA & MON wanting someone like him, but it would either have to be retained or have money coming back. Horny also has a NTC so it makes it more of an obstacle. I actually think he will have a really good year this year. He looked great in IIHF this summer and he was doing well before he went down with his 2 injuries. Just getting older and he costs a lot, especially if Guentzel is going to take over his spot on PP1

I could see him waiving for Nashville, he loved playing there...Preds have too many centers as it is, I personally think its a good fit for both team. Minus the JMFJ part....as it stands right now, the preds have 5 mil in caps space...even if we cant dump JMFJ to them, I'd be down for a Hornq/Bones deal straight up. That at least gives us some wiggle room to sign MP.
