Based on price/potential, the Oilers wouldn't take on more cap in that trade. They might skip the middle man and go Ho-Sang+ for Puljujarvi, but with their limited space, it doesn't make sense to make the Lehkonen trade.

the Oilers have like 5 mill in space and will likely bury Manning. Theyd be taking an extra 1 mill in this. People overblow this whole Oilers cant take $1 extra

Haha, I'm not saying that they can't take on extra $$$, I'm saying that if they're moving Puljujarvi, it makes a lot more sense to get an ELC back than a 30 point forward being paid $2.5 mil/year. Does anyone think that Puljujarvi can't put up the same or better?

Lehkonen isnt that bad offensively he just focused on defense and I think the oilers could use a player like him.

There's a ton of FA's that are very similar to Lehkonen that could be had at the same price or less, all while keeping Puljujarvi (and trading him for something else).

Ho-sang is garbage, that’s an underpayment really.

Byron just isn't a fit on the Isles. They have too many bottom 6 Wings right now and looking for a Center. Rather give Ho-Sang a chance to play full time, then move him for Byron right now.

The obsession might be next summer trying to find cap for Domi and others.

A quick, short list could include:

-Brassard (Said to be available near league minimum)
-Marleau (Probably going to SJ or back to TOR to be honest)
-Williams
-Pominville
-Sheahan
-Maroon (Doubt he'd go back to Edmonton)
-Lindberg

Do they all have the same upside as Lehkonen? Not necessarily, but they're all free, and none of them require giving Puljujarvi up for peanuts. I think we all seem to forget that he's 21 years old.
