You say CGY is in trouble but they still retain $1.3 on Hamonic? That doesn't make sense.

Plus, they have plenty of money to sign all three of those guys.

Leafs never trade Dermott in a trade that gets you Hamonic one year from UFA. Terrible asset management unless he comes with an extension, plus you are adding to 2nd rounders and a good prospect to get a little salary retained. Not a good trade

Damn, do i really have to write the Part 2 everytime...ofc Hamonic is re-signed and Barrie is on the way out, 7,5M+ is no go with them kids demanding all time Premium contracts...so next year D :

Rielly - Hjalmarsson ........5M + 5M
Muzzin - Hamonic............5M + 5M.............Muzzin 4 x 5M, Hamonic 5 x 5M
Sandin - Liljegren

So here you see Dermott isnt in the picture anymore, cause we have like bunch of D of his kind, but no ppl like Muzzin and Hjalmarsson who can hit.

the whole team is 24y of average....you need some maturity on positions that matters

Hamonic trade breakdown ( he was 1st and 2 x 2nds when traded from NYI )

2x 2nds and Dermott....overpayment of Dermott and Tymashov for retaining

As i said, Dermott fell out of Depth chart, also Tymashov will never make it past LW Checkers ( Hyman, Johnsson, Marchment, Mikheyev, Engvall, Moore ) and RW speedy wingers ( Marner, Nylander, Kapanen, Bracco )

While your explanation of the next couple years makes sense for this all to happen, I'm having a hard time trading Dermott.
No doubt you thought this through.. I..just have a hard time justifying trading Dermott.

Already mentioned other times about how HHjalmarsson has alot of mileage on him and staying away is best.

While I like this, I still don't like the idea of moving cost controlled Dermott.

I want my cake and i want to eat it too.
Meaning I'd rather look at giving an asset that is not of the following instead :

Dermott, Liljergen, Sandin, or Rasanen

I lol'd when I saw that...
Didn't say anything cause I was fully expecting someone to come in here and start talking Marner for the 10 millionth time.

Reality is that 7.7 for 3 years is accurate based off the market set by Aho deal at 8.4 for 5 years.

Probably and when you couple that with the position, players on his line, it makes this case much stronger.

Truth is here on capfriendly you just can't get true value for a player because of the personal biases people bring into discussions.

Im overpaying with Dermott and Tymashov so they retain...guess why

Can you brake it down for me.....or let me start first

9,5M in the pot + 3,5M ( M. Stone on LTIR ) = 13M

Tkachuk 7 x 7,5M
Bennett 3 x 3M
Rittich 3 x 3,8M

Gives 14,3M, with Magniapane being ignored, i pushed them to 15M even with retention.

Thing is they are trying to dump Brodie, we stick to Hamonic.

I'd love to target Hamonic as UFA in the offseason, even more than bringing back Muzzin

As i told you before, dont underestimate us Swedes, we go from tought to tougher after 30y.

Dont get me wrong, i like the kid. He will be decent middle Pair D. But with emerging of Sandin and Liljegren both filling into third Pair next year, the Team would have 24y on average in Offense and 26y, 23y, 20y, 21y defencemen, none of them being a "hitter" which i think is necessity. Again i may be biased after all those years between the pipes but i actually got a slight boner each time when some speedster was rushing towards me on the wing just to be shutdown to the ice by the guy infront of me that i could always rely on.....and after they brought Muzzin, i just cant have enough of the guy and his checking abilities....

As for Hjalmarsson, i take the guy over Ceci at any time of day, even at his 40s.

I'm not saying that you're not overpaying by giving up Dermott (foolish move BTW), I'm saying that if the goal is to drop payroll, taking on a future RFA doesn't make sense. Also, have you gazed at Calgary's D depth chart? They're pretty flush with Dmen.

As for 7 x $7.5 for Tkachuk? Goooooood luck Calgary.

It should be both of them, there will be 13M space for filling three D spots ( and thats with Marner at 10,6M and 84M Cap ) if we say Sandin & Liljegren are ready for 3rd Pair in Season 2020/2021. The problem is should advantage be taken with trade or reside to praying that he will actually hit free agency.
