We have had this type of team before all skaters, no good goalie. It doesn't work.

Very fair, but based on value alone, you don’t take Tkachuk?

On Value it's honestly I think blues would need more for the Goalie who won us a cup.

I’m focused more on trade value and how Blues fans apparently think this isn’t even a starter. I’m not convinced they would even trade him for McDavid.

So the trade makes no sense.

But goalie values are notoriously erratic and he has no significantly long history of production so Tkachuk is more "valuable". But regardless it just makes no sense

Absolutely, the trade would never be proposed to begin with. I just hated how arrogant my fellow Blues fans were about it. IMO today Tkachuk has twice the trade value of Binnington and Blues fans were scoffing at it.

33 regular season NHL games and was in the ECHL not but 2-3 years ago. Yes he was phenomenal this year but damn, if that trade is offered...RUN with it!!!

I don't think any team is looking for a goalie right now. Prove me wrong?

Since no team is looking for a goalie, they have zero current value. This would be an amazingly great deal, based on that. Caps fans are talking about trading Holtby for a 1st and a prospect, and confidentially I don't even think they could get that, this week. Let the season prove a couple teams have weaknesses, and the market might change, but I think Binnington, who hasn't even won a Vezina, gets you a 1st.

Every team is looking for a goalie, ALWAYS. COL has an unproven starter and back-up (yes PG looked good in limited action but how's he gonna look over a full season), CBJ would even probably take a flyer on Allen as they have nothing solid going, EDM is a friggin mess, Georgiav (Sp?) is a darling for NYR but I've not been impressed from what I've seen and even PIT is holding it's breath at points.

Eh Rittich has at least reasonable upside.

Yup David Rittich is trash you’re absolutely right. Astute observation! And before you bring up his stats which were slightly above league average he played half the season with a severe lower body injury. Flames aren’t a playoff team without him last year.

But again to your incredibly well- put point. He’s trash

I'm ****ing sorry, what?

The flames don't do this, they are fine at goalie. they could improve but this isn't enough of a clear improvement to dump Tkachuk

The Blues don't do this, sure gelling as a team, health, and coaching mattered a lot but the biggest difference between the first half Blues and second half Blues of last year was goaltending. Why would they go back to all skaters and no goalie?

And why do you want that? for one improvement at forward for a not small cap hit? You wanna do this you better find a more creative way to do it that involves dumping Allen, trading something else of actual value to Calgary (like maybe the picks that would come back in an Os + something to entice them to not want Tkachuk on the ice next year enough to not force you to OS and give them the last call on signing or a chance to force you to drive up his price to steal him) and hopefully do something putting a functional backup in rather than forcing Husso in when he's not ready, and make sure you look ahead at least one year when you do it

No wonder Twitter hated it, everyone should from both Calgary and STL

Al;so realize that Tkachuk is probably just flat out not happening any way you cut it

You’re missing the point. Let’s assume the trade did work for both sides based on need. Is the trade fair 1 for 1? If not, who adds?

The Blues add, Goalies are volatile, Tkachuk is young and terrific and Binnington was a non prospect who may be the real deal but may also be a flash in the pan that did the thing before the flash went out. There is a reason that Tkachuk no doubt gets 8AAV over more years. Also why would you ignore team need? Why else would teams trade? One GM hates success?

That's because we have never had a really good Goalie to depend on so it's make him more valuable to us than it would other teams because we haven't had a Goalie like him take us on a cup run. Which is why I think Blues would need more for Binnington than the Normal NHL Face value or even Market Value.
