Sabres shouldn't be at the cap, with just modest expiring contracts next summer and potentially some big RFA signings.

Buffalo would obviously need to add but on the surface that looks like it could be a damn good return on Ristolainen.

They would have 30 million in cap space next year with this team. They would have no problem at all with cap space.

11 roster spots to be filled including Montour, Reinhart and Middlestadt, that's not a lot of cap.

Middlestadt is not going to get paid a lot, at the moment Montour isnt worth anything more than 4.5, Reinhart is 8 million, plenty of room. Next year will have a big increase do to new TV deal.

The rumoured big TV deal was an increase of no more than 3m per team or 1.5m in cap per team. Hope the it's bigger. Look at how NBA has gone cap crazy with their massive TV increase. Sadly the NHL still and probably never will have a US national audience.

I know that deal is from a Jets' fan page... but that is a terrible trade for the Jets.

Doesn’t make sense for the jets though. We need a defence first rd not a d like ristolainen
