Hate to burst your bubble but Reaves and McNabb aren’t netting a pair of third round pics.

Take McNabb out of that back line and you're looking at a non-playoff-team defense.

Reaves is bringing a second with him, so I don't see how this trade isn't one Montreal would make unless they're not in the market for Reaves.

Take into consideration that second round pick will be closer to a third (a total crap shoot) as it is STL’s pick.

We're not talking about next summer's draft but the one after that. A lot can happen in two seasons. For example, Jordan Binnington might turn out to be a flash in the pan, and St. Louis's second-rounder might be #47 while Chicago's third-rounder is #87. Speculation doesn't lead us anywhere. Even trying to project who the bottom 10 teams will be next year is fraught with potential error.

Lets be real, picks outside the top 10 in the draft can go anywhere. Certainly picks outside the first round are total crapshoots. OR we can go by the only concrete facts we know. 1) Reaves is a face puncher, that’s what he does. You can find those guys anywhere in your teams farm system for very cheap. Reaves is not special, he is effective in the regular season at punching faces and chipping in the odd goal here and there. He is not effective in the playoffs. See round one against SJ for instance, he was only relevant in game 1 (sjs won that game 5-2) after that SJ ignored him and he was a total nonfactor the rest of the series. How this man is worth anything outside of a sixth round pick completely baffles me.

2) Binnington could indeed be a flash in the pan but the odds are currently against that given the year he had and the fact that he won the cup..I know, still could be a flash in the pan but I’d say..likely not. STL was the best team in the league starting in the new year and one could argue a good portion of those wins are because of Binnington.

This is all kinds of wrong. I take it you don't watch many VGK games?

McNabb goes nowhere. You can take that to the bank.

Nabber is Vegas's best defensive defenseman, they aren't letting him go when three rookies will be fighting for a spot. Holden makes the same money as Nabber and he 's been their 7th or 8th guy, Holden goes even if it costs a sweetner

There are many in Vegas's organization who believe Reaves has more value than Gusev with the team, otherwise they would have shipped him out for Gusev. Yeah he isn't there to score but he certainly threw Kane off his game to be a total non factor penalty making machine.

He was only a factor in game one. He was invisible after the Kane fight and a complete nonfactor when the Sharks took over the series.

His value to the Knights and the open market are totally different things. It’s like me saying Melker Karlsson is super important in the locker room so therefore he is worth a 2nd round and 3rd round pick.

Fair enough, I think different than those in the organization that think highly of him. He did have his best year ever after signing that contract and he got that because both the Flyers an Rangers wanted to sign him so it was a bidding war.
I don't think he has much value myself, but different organizations value different things. To say that no team would want him is an error in thinking.

I'm just wondering how Vegas will make it to comply to the salary cap.
