Initial Creation Date: Jul. 14, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Danault, Petry, Tatar all get traded in the final years of their contract. Danault probably fetches the most return, I'd say easily a 1st rd pick and a good B level prospect
By this time, based on my projections (COULD BE BIASED, AS I AM A HABS FAN)
kotkaniemi is an elite number 1 Center and a top 10-12 center in the league (think Barkov)
Poehling is Jordan Staal with a bit more offensive punch, perfect number 2 center
Caufiled develops into a 35-40 goal scorer
Suzuki is capable of playing C, but is better suited as a winger (60-70 point winger)
Romanov is that Stud D Habs have been looking for on the left side
Brook develops into an excellent top 4 with top 3 potential right shot D
Gally gets rewarded for his loyalty
Drouin has developed consistency in his game and is a regular 70 point winger who can net 20-25 goals a year. excellent on the PP
Domi is an 80 plus point winger (I'd say that is reasonable)
Lehkonen is a regular 20 goal scorer
Habs are strong down the middle with size and scoring
the wingers are smallish, but excellent speedy skaters (the new nhl is headed this way)
Defense is well rounded (no 50-60 point d men are on the team) but solid 30-40 point D men
Paul Byron can still fly (wishful thinking? :) )

If there’s one thing the habs need to do before the expansion draft, IMO it’s trade one of Juulsen or Fleury. Even without Petry, they still have too many RHD, and unlike Brook, they’re both expansion eligible.

I think it depends. If we make a trade with a contender, they might rather Juulsen, since he’s more NHL ready.

If that's indeed the cap situation come 2022 I think the cup window will close prematurely on this team. There's not enough flexibility under that cap, while Suzuki and Brook will have to be paid and you have no players coming off the books. IMO Gally, Lehkonen, Juulsen and Mete 's are exactly the kind of contract you don't want to commit to non-core players. Gallagher is a force now, but all signs point toward a steep decline past 30. Lehkonen is a good 3rd liner, but he can be replaced internally by a cheaper option (where's Ikonen in your plan?). Given the perceived lack of depth on the left D flank as of now, Mete's contract is justifiable, but if Juulsen is indeed a 3rd pair D-man comes 2022 by all means trade him before then or let him walk. That'd be 4+ millions over 4 years for a depth piece, seems like a bad allocation of that precious cap space. Also, Domi's contract seems a little high. Perennial contenders don't commit that much money to 2nd tier forwards. Did you notice that no one in the SCF this year was earning more than 7.5 millions a year? MTL is already crippled with 2 championship-mitigating contracts (Price and Weber), they should refrain from adding another one.

this is just a line up prediction. i mean, we dont have to resign juulsen or lehkonen. the cap imo is irrelevant right now. Domi's contract is perfect considering how much rfas are signing for. he is dif not a 2nd tier forward my guy. that was dumb as hell
