Agreed. It's one of the rare ACGM overpays. Makes a ton of sense though. Johnson's NTC would hold it back, but this is a good deal for TB (And fills a hole in Carolina).

Do you guys still need space though after firing Callahan on LTIR?

Yes we do. Callahan LTIR lets us to spend over the cap but at the end of the year any bonus money will go against next years cap. Next year we are tighter than this year so I see Tampa trading Callahan to a team with cap space. That team will get something in return not sure what.

If you can move Cally’s contract, move Johnson, you can sign Point and bring on a RHD they’ve been looking for (Risto?)

Honestly don't know how Tampa gets teams to help them out (see the JT Miller trade) but this would really help them out as an over payment.

Love the trade but I honestly think you could replace the 1st and 2nd for a 3rd. The reasons why I think TJ would be a good fit are that he's a right shot, can play center and wing, and he's got a good work ethic which Rod would love. The only thing missing imo is willy. Would you send necas down to charlotte for another year just so that willy could have one last run? I think I would, and necas would be the first callup in case of injuries. The only problem is that there isn't enough cap space to sign him unless he takes a ridiculous paycut.

I was thinking this in terms of a Willy retirement. If Willy come back, I think you scratch the trade and run it without a trade.

The way the current canes are constructed, one more right shot forward with flexibility would make the forward group one of the deepest in the league with a crazy amount of workable configurations.

If the canes unload reimer and williams takes a modest paycut in addition to this trade then it all works out. Rod would have so many options as you said, and not having room for necas for one more season is a good problem to have.
