Ottawa looks. awful at the forward position even with Marner. Leafs don't match. Spend 10m elsewhere has a top 3 pick in 2020...and three more picks to come. Ottawa shouldn't be wasting picks on RFAs.

At this point, as much as we want to succeed faster, I think Ottawa will be a tough team to watch for the next 2-3 seasons with a few bright spots like Chabot and Tkachuk. What I don't want to happen is another miracle run where they just barely squeeze into the playoffs and then decide that the rebuild is over and that we need to trade and spend again right away. Stick to the course, get a few lottery picks and work your way up from there.

This is such a good deal for Toronto. Even with an overpaid Marner on the roster this Ottawa team is the worst in the league. Even if they don't end up last in the standings this team should be getting top 5 or at least top 10 draft picks for the next few years. This is about the worst thing Ottawa could do in their position

As a leafs fan, yes please! I was hoping if any team offer sheeted Marner it would be the Senators. But we all know he will be a leaf.
