Pominville to the Blues

Created by: dp6154
Team: 2019-20 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 15, 2019
Published: Jul. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously Kyrou can and hopefully will make the jump and Maroon is probably not quite in the budget this year. Pominville is probably about as productive, maybe a bit more than Maroon or Sanford. This allows the Blues to scratch Sanford and keep him as the first fill in in case of injury if Krou makes the jump, or keeps one of the 10 p[oint pace guys form last year, Blais and MacEachern, from having to try to jump to 30 point guys if Kyrou needs a little more AHL time.

God I hope so, he's gonna be so good when he is and he looked good in the AHL last year

As long as Blues give him a legitimate shot and not treat him like Ty Rattie, he will be fine. Still feel if Rattie had been developed like he should have been he'd be a solid middle 6 guy right now.

that's optimistic. Rattie wasn't really a prospect heading into the AHL he just put up numbers there and he had every shot in the world + a parining with McDavid in Edmonton and he still flamed out at a Lehtera like pace. he's probably the dictionary definition of a AAAA player.

Kyrou has actual prospect status because he has observable talent to match his production, it's just a matter of if his game is well rounded enough to carry his production to the NHL and play good enough defense while doing so yet. No need to rush him. Blues fans should know how important it is to understand the difference between AHL success and NHL success right now after Rattie and years of Allen starting, it's time to remove the prospect delusion glasses

Rattie was thought of as a very sound prospect. He was never grade A or B+ status but was thought of as a B or B- player. Put up really good numbers is junior and had a good shot and decent speed. Blues kept signing free agent after free agent and he didn't get really established. The one year he started to show promise in 13 games just to get sent back down later.

Development makes all the difference in the world. He wasn't developed properly. He didn't have the pure speed that Kyrou has, no question. But he wasn't terrible.
