I wouldn't worry about a Marner offer sheet, no team is going to fork over the 4 1st's without getting the 7 year term, it is been widely reported Marner (much like Aho) wants 5 years or less term.

Marner sure who sign that overpayment contract. The Columbus sure is weaker without those three regulars just traded away for futures. Looks like a good lottery pick next year.
And next year with a 10m in cap spade...gotta resign Dubois, Anderson two two goalies and more......no cap space. One reason teams don't overpay for RFA or UFA....cap space isn't avaiable.

Columbus isn't in the position to start offer sheeting players. Sure they have the cap space but nothing else to support it. They could get Marner and then find out that their goalie tandem is garbage and simply not good enough and all of sudden those four 1sts are top 10 picks every year.

Montreal was in an absolute perfect spot to offer sheet. They had the cap space. They have a tons of accrued draft picks and prospects. They also have a team that is good enough right now and for the foreseeable future. The odds of their 1st round draft picks being bad the next 4 years are much less than Columbus's or many other teams who were considering offer sheets.

I'm saying exactly that. I just decided why not try it out and see what the team would look like. In my opinion it's a bad idea to offer sheet him.

    the OS would be 10.5x5

they would only give up 2 1sts.
They would be low round 1sts.
Toronto would be forced into matching.
Here is the real catch, Marner probably won't sign it, because he wants 11.5 range x 4
