Roy had a quality showing in the last half of 2018-19, despite the Kings being otherwise terrible. Getting him to sign a two-year contract at the league-minimum with him ending up a RFA again is a great deal. I'm sure the trade-off is that it's either a one-way deal or has a higher AHL cap hit than the normal 10%.

All salient points and p much what I was about to say. Great value signing. And with Doughty earning $11M for the next 8y, the Kings are going to need a couple of these every year to keep their blueline budget from bloating.
