But Doughty isn't bringing you a championship like Leonard did for the Raptors. Also, they traded a franchise player for a star with one year left on his deal and Doughty has 8

Money and term aside, you have to choose between Doughty and Marner. Which one gives you a better chance to win a cup this year. I am not sure its Doughty....

I feel like the actual Derozan trade for the leafs would have been Kadri, 2020 1st and Jeremy Bracco for Taylor Hall.

Afford what? Did you know that a 23 man roster is max? Than means 23 is the maximum amount of players you can have on your roster. The minimum (the least possible) is 20. That means you can have anywhere from 20-23 players until after the TDL lol

There's a very good chance that Toronto will use a 21 man roster this year. They can get away with it with their AHL arm team being located 10 mins down the street and with both teams using the same primary practice facility. The Leafs used a shortened roster during periods of last season as well.

Send Mathews home for a monster blockbuster, and get Kessel back and use some of that retained, I’m sure u could get 3 or 4 players back for Mathews and some picks, and sign marner for Mathews dough

Yeah until you have an injury that can't go on LTIR.

C'mon Jack/ Teams carry 23 players almost exclusively for a reason...at times 22. They have found it's just bad team management to go with the minimum amount of players Teams would have carried constantly fewer players if it projected to "on ice sense". But it doesn't work.

I was just roasting the kid. I'm not saying it's a good idea but there isnt anything stopping a team from doing it. A team like the leafs should try a 21 or 22 man roster. Babcock rarely uses the extra guys so it makes sense to use the cap space in other areas

Most teams don't have the luxury of having their AHL team in the same city. Not a big deal for Toronto to do an emergency call up for a game or two and carry a 22 man roster.

Also Doughty is one of the worst contracts in the league. Great player but if he continues to play like he did last season he's not worth more than 8 mil, awful trade. Output vs Cap hit is everything in todays NHL
