Seems on par with a lot of other guys (i.e. Kapanen and Johnsson). Although I am guessing there will be a lot of people wishing they could have maybe got three years at that AAV.

Love it. Way to risky to give him a massive deal. He easily could turn into Burakovsky 2.0. Well played caps.

Unlike Burakovsky's similar bridge deal this is an insanely good value for the Caps, glad to see no one got to offer sheet him

Such a good contract. New U.S. TV deal will be done by then (hopefully) and the cap looks like it'll go up a decent amount. If Ovechkin takes less money in 2021, the Caps are getting a big fish that offseason. Dynasty. Put GMBM's cell phone number in the rafters of Capital One Arena.

After seeing guys like Silfverberg get signed to contracts worth over $5M annually, I didn’t think it’d be possible to get him locked up on a deal like this. We have Kyle Dubas to thank for that, in getting Kapanen, Johnsson and Kerfoot all locked up to similar numbers.

Great contract for the team, and hopefully he earns a bigger payday in two years.

Kapanen/Johnson w/o the extra year. I would've def. preferred this deal at 3 years. Vrana's deal suddenly makes the two TOR guys sesame like an even better value.

But he's been clutch in the playoffs and it's only a 2 year deal so kinda has to prove his worth to get a pay raise then.

Really?

The Johnsson, Kapanen and Kerfoot signings all have much better value than this deal ... and that's just one team.

"Insanely good value" should be reserved for guys like Kevin Labanc ... the dude got 56 points and signed for 1 Million dollars.

.... if only my wife was this easily impressed.

He's got 8 points in 30 playoff games ... ?
And had 0 points in the 2019 playoffs ... ?

Decent price for some solid supplementary scoring. The short term makes this good, not great.

Wow "stick to archery"... Really hit your point home there.

Anyhow I recall him scoring against us 2 seasons ago in the 1st round. May not be the reason we lost but the guys got potential to be better. 8 points in the year they won, and as I see it, WSH needs to get younger.

You're just exaggerating for no reason to make your point better, 23 games in the 2018 playoffs not 30, cmon it's one link to look at his stats and it's on this page. He had 23 even strength goals last season too, he'll have more PP time this year and even more opportunity. You consider Jonsson or Kapanen to be good deals and not this one? That makes no sense, this guy is younger than Jonsson and had more goals and points than him, and he had more goals and points than Kapanen as well, who is the same age. I'd love for you to try to explain to me how those two contracts are any better from Vrana's, other than your own bias towards players you know better.

For a two year contract? Contracts like these are literally designed so the player can show more consistency and earn a bigger payday.
