WOW! I suppose they saw enough of Carrick to feel confident he'll crack the top six D??? Personally, I like Mirco Meuller better, especially as a bottom pair guy.

Babcock blindsided him. I honestly think he's a better player than his stats suggest tho

The one former Leafs Dman I actually DID want in Ottawa...
I think there's a player in there. I think Babcock crushed a lot of that potential into the bench in favor of one of the worst Dmen in the league, but I think there's still enough there that I would be comfortable giving him this deal.

Low risk, I think they'll give him a shot as their RD on the 3rd pairing. Hopefully he'll benefit from some more favourable usage than he got in Toronto.

As long as Vatanen is on the team I don‘t see him on our top-6.

Kind of agree, though as far as I see it, it'll depend on their plans with Mueller. Either way, Carrick's fitting in at the 6-7 spot.

That statement makes zero sense, he had his best years in Toronto because Babcock knew his limitations, check his numbers with Toronto vs anyone else.

You mean the fact that he started 58% in the offensive zone in Toronto, what could possibly be more favourable than that ?

Check his stats again. 11P in 34GP last year with 2 NHL teams (Dallas/New Jersey). In 17-18 with us, 12P in 47GP. Year before, 8P in 67GP. So i'm not sure which best years you're referring to.

Sorry I don't look at point totals for "best years" especially for D men. Check his possession numbers, point shares & possession quality with Toronto as opposed to last year

Poor word choice on my part, should have used "selection" rather than usage. He was put into some pretty good situations, but got scratched too often (besides '16-'17) for some arguably less effective choices.
