Still need a 2W

Description
Avs had some solid additions so far, but that 2nd line still need an improvement. I doubt Jost - Kadri - Burakovsky as 2nd line is going to improve your secondary scoring. Kadri as 2C is an upgrade, but I doubt he's going to boost the offense without a more proven winger as linemate.
Jost was pretty good during the play offs but his regular season wasn't that good at all, including a short period at the Eagles. Rushing him once again won't benefit anyone. Give him a season on the 3rd line as centre or LW and give him some time to take the next step.
Burakovsky has the tools to fit in nicely, but he played mostly in a bottom 6 role at the Caps and his best season is a couple years ago. I understand why they made the move since he has shown flashes of the player he can be, and he has been one of the better skaters of the Caps during the playoffs in the last few years.
Betting on two players on your 2nd line as a contender is a big risk. The Avs need a legit winger on that 2nd line. Among the available players, Ehlers is probably the most likely one. Jets are in a difficult cap situation. But I doubt they are willing to trade Ehlers to a division rival. I'm not sure what could work for both sides. I have a high draft pick, solid RHD prospect and a depth player but the value is probably a bit off.

Either Jost or Compher plays 3C. I've Compher on a 1-year deal since I doubt he'll sign any longer (maybe 2 years). Wondering for what reason Compher filed for arbitration. If he really wants to work out a deal and to stay on this team, he wouldn't have filed. So either the Avs are lowballing him big time, or Compher is asking way too much. I can imagine Compher might want to go to a team where he potentially can play 2nd line (don't think that will happen at the Avs).

I guess either Rosen or Graves will start the season on the 3rd pair along with a more experienced player (Connauton/Barberio). Right now, I'd say Rosen has a slight advantage. After Cole is healthy again, Either Zadorov or Cole moves to the 3rd pair, Connauton and/or Barberio will be traded and Graves will be recalled.

Think the Jets want a RHD for Ehlers. I recall them offering Carolina Ehlers for one of em.

Yeah I've used a Ehlers - Barrie trade a couple of times but Barrie is traded so... Winnipeg is pretty thin on RHD. Meloche is a RHD and could potentially make the team this season. It's probably not the RHD they want, but along with a depth player like Nieto (their forward group needs some cheap depth players) and a high draft pick, it might work

I would love Ehlers but I don't see the Avs making another trade for a top 6 guy. They're going to go into the season and see where Jost and Bura can take that second line and I'm sure we'll see one of Landy or Rantanen get moved down and have Bura play on the 1st line for a bit just to see if he can produce and keep up. The potential on that 2nd line (Jost-Kadri-Bura) is through the roof, we'll see if they can finally put it together.

Rare I disagree with Coga but I agree the Avs need that one more piece IMHO, and it's a winger who is relatively quick, can throw the body about a bit and can add some points. Josh Anderson I'm looking at you, even though it would need an overpayment to acquire. Lot of ppl wonder why I'm dead set on him, I just think he's the ideal addition.
