Trading two Josh Andersons

Description
The Avs Josh Anderson obviously isn't the main part of the deal lol. No idea if the value is there, or even close. The Dubois and Jost 1-2, if Jost breaks out, could give CBS a serious future pairing.

Signed a couple of guys with a bit of NHL experience for in the AHL (and of course some players may drop to the ECHL but a lot I've signed to show some of the depth). I'm sure the Shore brothers (excuse the pun) would love to play in Colorado, but those guys are insurance in case of injuries, I also think Joly is worth signing and maybe giving him a look in the big time.

Barberio is just a dump as I don't see the need for him, at least when Cole returns from injury. Haven't shown Cole on the Injury list as this is the ideal once he's returned, and I'd rather give Rosen or Graves the ice time than Barberio.

Knight is just me dreaming.

Some might think Timmins should be in but I think some time in the AHL to get back up to some game fitness would be a smart move.

Ready for people to go berserk on me, but remember it's all hypothetical folks lol!

1.
COL
  1. Wood, Kyle
  2. 2020 7th round pick (WSH)
SJS
  1. Barberio, Mark
Additional Details:
Just because I want to dump Barberio. Wood is a 'righty' who knows the organisation and can give them depth in the AHL.
2.
COL
  1. Anderson, Josh
  2. 2020 6th round pick (CBJ)
CBJ
  1. Anderson, Josh
  2. Jost, Tyson
  3. Meloche, Nicolas
  4. 2020 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
CBS gets a couple of prospect D's, Meloche looks good but is so far down the Avs depth chart, with all the other righties they have, that he's a decent trade piece who may never get a shot at the Avs, and righties seem to have higher value. Anderson gives them another decent prospect D. In Jost they get a kid who can play centre or wing and looks about ready to break out, and would give Columbus a great 1-2 in the future with Dubois. He's also decent defensively (by eye, I haven't looked at advanced stats) which doesn't get talked about much. They also pick up a decent pick that fills a hole in their draft while giving up a lower one to balance the trade. A lot would depend on how much Columbus are into re-building or re-tooling, and I realise Anderson might well be a significant part of that.
3.
COL
  1. Knight, Spencer [Reserve List]
FLA
  1. Kaut, Martin
  2. Shvyryov, Igor
  3. 2020 6th round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
I realise this is a dreaming trade. Both Kaut & Knight were taken around the same spot in the draft. Florida may need help at centre sooner than goaltending however. I've signed Knight just to show him on the prospects though the college route is more likely, the same as Newhook is also signed to show depth. Florida also gets their 6th round pick back & a little bonus in Shvyryov.
4.
COL
  1. Shore, Nick
  2. 2020 7th round pick (STL)

Florida drafted Knight at 13 for a reason. Plus, why would they need help at center with Barkov and Trocheck locked in with Borgstrom coming up?

Looking at their roster it seemed they might need help there. Not so much depth. I did also say I was only dreaming wink

I know but still, even the reasoning doesn’t make sense. Besides, 3rd and 4th line centers are replaceable in FA.

Kaut likely wouldn't be a third/fourth line centre and could play right wing or centre with Huberdeau or Trochek moving to wing if he plays centre, as both have played there. I realise first round picks can be busts but it's unlikely with this kid. So the logic is there, but again.....I'm only dreaming, and I realise they drafted Knight for a reason (although it was also a case of taking the best player available as most teams seem to do in the first round).

Here's what I didn't understand. They spent their first pick on the top goalie in the draft and turned around and signed Bobrovsky for 7 years. Even if it takes Knight 3 years to be NHL ready, he'll still be stuck behind a $10 million/year guy for 4 more years.

Jost is better than Anderson was at his age. I think he will have a breakout year playing with Kadri.

I think it was case of best player available rather than team need, plus he'll be good future trade bait if necessary.

Agreed, I just think Anderson would be a smart move for the Avs due to his size and relatively good speed and hands. I understand the NHL is moving towards quicker and younger, but can't have a team loaded with little guys, still got to have some muscle and 'grit and sandpaper', and Anderson is young enough to fit. As I stated a Dubois/Jost 1-2 could be terrifying for a lot of teams in the future but it all depends if the Jackets are re-loading. I think a lot of Columbus fans overvalue Anderson though of course he's the ideal asset (for me) for the Avs to acquire so it likely takes an overpay.

Value is probably an overpay for Anderson, but Columbus has the same thing we have a ton of young D in the system when Savard is our oldest defenseman and is under 30, your d core is pretty young. We also still have Jones, Werenski, Kukan, Gavrikov, Murray, Nuttivaara, Peeke, Harrington, Clendening, Carlsson and Savard who all have NHL experience in the system. Adding 2 more doesn’t really fit the need of the team.

That being said, I’d love to get Jost, if he breaks out, but with torts as the coach, I don’t see that happening. Anderson is a proven NHL player and as Jost is good he also spent time in the AHL last season to get his head on straight. So it’s a fairly big risk for Columbus to move Anderson for Jost and 2 D prospects we don’t really need.

Very logical arguments, thanks for the input! smile
