Ya no. A McDavid trade would include at least 2 elite young players and then draft picks ex) laine, Ehlers, 2 1sts. Not prospect based. Prospects are add ones to a McDavid trade.

What is the point of getting McDavid if you create so many holes after that ? Even as good as he is, he cant carry the club to success by himself. The mess in EDM is a clear example of that.

I would think the Oilers would say no to this deal. The ask would have to be a 1C centre, a top line winger and a top pairing Dman plus 1-2 firsts. None of these players are at that stature yet. I honestly don’t think the Habs have the players needed to get McDavid

If this was a video game, I’d consider it. But can you imagine being the GM who traded away McDavid? EDM fans would be hinting you down with torches and pitchforks
