You can't buyout a long term injuried player.
Gusev (doubt Vegas accept that but let's assume) and Point are not signing that

Gusev doesn't want to go back to Tampa. Before he was traded at the expansion draft, they told him they viewed him as a career AHL player

If thats Tampas best offer for Point then he gladly tells his agent to find him an offer sheet to sign. Did you even consider the market or comparables for him?

I don't think it is true. I can't imagine Lightning staff saying that to any player. His English was proly just bad so he misunderstood.

Gourde has a NTC. He ain't waiving for Ottawa. Looks like Callahan is going on LTIR. No need to buy him out, which can't do for a LTIR player. And that contract for Point shakes head

Joe Smith a very good reporter at the Atlletic recently said Gusev did not like how the Lightning treated him. There was no specifics but there is some bad blood.

No way Gusev goes back to Tampa after the way he was treated, Going to Tampa isn't an option. Tampa pretty much said that he had no future there. When he was left unprotected and Vegas took him.

There is bad blood so he will not go to TB but he was traded to have them take a bad contract and stay away from younger defense prospects. You cannot protect someone that is not under contract.
