After a previous bashing for giving up the Bruins in the first round due to lack of effort from the top 6 and was called at as a band-wagon, I am back (to many's disgusts). 1. I have watched the Bruins for a long amount of time and never cheered for any other organizations, 2. I knew the top 6 not producing would end up costing us, even though our depth was able to come through, 3. I never gave up hope in the playoffs (other than that one time). Was thinking about just taking a rest from this cancerous web for a year but after scrolling through a few ACGMs, it looked horrible, far worse than those I have made before. I have no idea what the Bruins are doing this year including the signings of Maxime Lagace and Par Lindholm. Even if you needed AHL depth, you've also signed Branden Gaunce too and also with the new addition of speed, goal scoring ability, and agitator in Samuel Asselin who came off an insane year in the QMJHL. Moves were needed and definitely not Backes, as 1. We would have to massive overpay to get rid of that deal and 2. even if not, we would still have a missing hole in the lineup of veteran-ship. My way of doing this is the following:
1. Kevin Miller needs to be moved. As much as I love Miller (one of my favorite players), we need the cap now and with the extension of Kampfer and the up-and-coming Conner Clifton, there is no where he would be playing on that lineup. Even though I think Kampfer should play in the AHL, I believe whenever called up, he should still serve as a player that would be ready in any scenario. I might have over-estimated Miller's value but its not over by much. Plus that deal could go to any team in the Western Conference.
2. Signing Wolff. Wolff has been solid for his 2 years in the Bruin's development camp. Yes, hes slow, 6'4 but loves to throw the body around and has been rated highly by Bruins coaches (especially Jay Leech, Providence head coach). Probably bottom pairing at best but someone who could actually become someone who has played solid and actually has potential in the development camp. On the other hand, Andersson from Sweden looks like Zboril 2.0. He has been extremely good at times but not great on others. IMO, he should spend a year in juniors or back in the Swedish Elite League before coming to the AHL if ready.
Just what I would do if I had control of the Bruins. In 2020~2021, just let Gaunce go if he doesn't play well, resign Ritchie to another one year deal, give Wagner 3*1.5 or 2 (especially he loves playing Boston; he mentioned this when he first signed), Coyle a 5*4~5.25M, Krug to what he wants (should be around 7*6.5M) and the younger players to bridge in order to let Backes's and Krejci's deal run out (resign Krejci but give him like 4*2 with M-NTC or something along the lines of that).
P.S. Carlo has a signing bonus of 1M to add onto that so his cap-hit would be up to 5.5M. This would only kick in 4 years into his contract. (So only would affect cap-hit after the year 2022~2023)
Conditional 2020 MIN 4th: If Kevin Miller plays less than 35 games in the season of 2019~2020, a 2020 MIN 5th round pick would be sent instead.
Unconditional 2020 MIN 7th round pick: If Kevin Miller plays less than 35 games in the 2019 ~2020 season, the pick would be sent.
Conditional 2021 6th round pick: If Minnesota decides not to resign Kevin Miller by the end of his contract in 2020, a 7th round pick would be sent instead.
Can’t trade injured players. Miller won’t be moved.
Only ELC and over 35 players are eligible for performance bonuses so Carlo won’t get that
oh ok, didn't realize. Will change it in a second. Plus Miller isn't injured anymore. He posted on IG that he was riding a horse with another Bruins teammate (forgot who it was). Quite sure you cannot ride a horse with a broken knee cap. It is Moore who is injured now.
sure. I did hear that it would be 83M but this team should still work in 81.5 considering we do have 2.4M of cap space left
The cap was set a month ago at $81.5 M. You only have $128K left under the cap, and probably about $100K less because Gaunce won't be on the roster it will be Kampfer.

sure. I mean it works. After G1 of the season, the AHL cap-hit wouldn't count (by that I mean all the younger players are sent down into the AHL) and so we actually have more cap for call-ups.

My point is they are not going to go into the season with $28,000 in cap space.
so first things first, you cant give carlo a signing bonus in one year and have his cap hit go up that year. a cap hit is average annual value. Unless the player turns 40 during the duration of a contract, the cap hit is the same each and every year.
What happens when Moore comes off LTIR and you are miles over the cap?
Not all injuries put people on LTIR, but even disregarding that, if Kuhlman, Gaunce or Clifton get's injured you wouldn't be able to call up anyone earning even 800k. You're hamstrung by your own doing.
Those Krug/Coyle extensions are way below market value, Krug could get 8M on the open market and Coyle will be looking for just under Hayes (6-7M) money. I could see Krug wanting to stay here but I bet Coyle cashes in.

the hayes contract was certifiably insane. I don't think other teams will be doing that.
so trade miller bring last years team back. I think its what we all kinda think by this point. unless you want to eat the first rounder and trade backes, might as well do it now while were good and the pick will be high 25 or 26 atleast

I don't see Krug getting more than 7. He's good and all that but not a top pairing player. On the comparison, I do believe Krug would get something along the line of Trouba

1. Sweeney isn't going to trade that 1st. 2. Cash in on all the value you got, plus where is Miller going to play? Its going to be McQuaid 2.0

Also, Moore isn't going to be on LTIR all season
fine, we'll take that as a minor setback. We can always call up Carey or someone else. Plus Moore could easily be moved it needed, or someone else. Just get McAvoy and Carlo back. They are the main players

Obviously the goal is to get Carlo and McAvoy back, but either you sign them to deals that puts you some 100k below the cap, or you trade enough salary away to be able to do so

move someone at the worst case scenario. And tbh, I've heard that Backes could also be on LTIR as well, just no confirmation. And if it was an average annual value, the increase of cap hit would be too little to push the Bruins over the cap. Worse comes to worst, we drop our signings this year at the next FA or ship out someone

Moore when he comes back and at worst, send down one of our young guys ie. Bjork, Kuhlman... Or even waive Ritchie or Kampfer at worst.

yeah well, any other way to get Carlo and McAvoy without trading Backes because that is reality (Sweeney isn't moving Backes, it was confirmed a long time ago)
