All the newly signed players get sent to the AHL so they don't cost cap space. Now the AHL club has 17 forwards, 8 defensemen and 3 goalies. Great development plan: choke out the prospects' playing time!

But the big club needs 6 more players and has a whopping $7.68M to sign them - or $6.68M when you account for Smith's GP bonuses. If Jesse signs for the expected $1.38M, that leaves $5.3M for 5 players, or $1.06M each. Good luck signing anything decent for that money! Oh, and you really only have 1 more spot on the 50-man roster, 2 if you want to bind yourself in with the max. This isn't going to work, guys.
