As a Pens fan I’d do that in a heart beat. Someone needs to tell Jim Rutherford that he’s oblivious to the fact he’s got the worst defenseman in the world. Send Gordon Ramsay to Pittsburgh and have him send the message that he’s in denial.

Not sure if all these deals could be pulled off, but I think Columbus or Ottawa should be all in on something like this.
Side note: in thinking long term, I'm for the Pens deal. But for the Ottawa side, I think it would make more sense strategically thinking to take the Pens 2022 1st rounder than 2020...
I'd prefer a deal something like Pens send 2022 1st rounder, 2020 3rd rounder, Jack Johnson and Bryan Rust (who Ottawa could flip for something else) for Wolanin and Duclair.
Gives the Pens cap space and a couple younger and cheaper players. Gives Ottawa two good draft picks to build with and an asset that could be traded for something else down the line.

But I think with the 11 1st rounders and lets say 3 of those are 1st pairing/liners, the sens actually lineup to have them exit their ELCs when the bad contracts would expire (except for Neal and Lucic).
Maybe replace that tampa trade for Alzner + 1st + 2nd for whatever and this is even better.

Also you have the room next to sign Chabot to 8x10
