Doesn't look awesome considering its the exact same AAV & Term that Kerfoot got.

Might be a shade high on AAV. In year 3 and 4 this contract may be one of the best around if the cap jumps the way most pundits expect it to.

Exactly same deal as Kerfoot did, so yes, an overpayment. Feels like they kept the wrong guy.

Good signing. Compher has a higher ceiling than Kerfoot. Also a more versatile player who can kill penalties. They kept the right guy.

Fair deal, plus, if JT keeps progressing, having him at 3.5 would be a steal.

Big overpayment. Had a fine year based on his points. But the advanced stats shows he has a really bad impact on both offense and defense. Was among the worst offensive players on the team in the last few years stat wise. Best case scenario he develops into a good player on the 3rd line. Worst case scenario you pay 4x3.5 for a 4rd line guy. Yikes

I like JTC. He's young and he can score. But just b/c the AVS are flush w/ cap space doesn't mean they should be overpaying bottom six guys.

Why does he have a higher ceiling that Kerfoot?

They're the same age and Kerfoot has put up 10 more points per year since they started playing together?

Are you still basing your opinion on the fact the Compher was drafted higher than Kerfoot 6 years ago?

this seems about right.
Seems guys in this middle 6, 15-20 goal range are getting a 3.25-3.5 million deal on a multi deal term is fairly common.

I'm basing it off the fact that I watch a ton of Avs hockey. Look at their playoff production. Compher can grind, play all situations, and put up points on any line. They tried Kerfoot on the first line in the playoffs when Rantanen was out and he couldn't produce. Avs kept the right player.

He missed some time and had a very close P/GP rate to Kerfoot while playing more defensive minutes (On the PK as well as even strength). He is also right handed which is a plus for the Avs and scores more goals in less toi. I'd prefer Compher over Kerfoot too

Compher has 20+ and 30+ point seasons last two seasons while Kerfoot has 40+ point seasons in same time.

They don't get Kadri unless Kerfoot comes back & Kadri is a great add for Colorado

EW projected his 4 year expectation at $3.4M so seems about right, I don't think this is an over payment

I know what you meant, I don't think Toronto wanted Compher, they wanted Kerfoot so without Kerfoot the deal doesn't happen
