Detroit has signed 2 goalies this offseason and with both of last years goalies back and a couple goalie prospects that are starting to play well. I believe Detroit has addressed their goalie issues for now at least. I just can't see Detroit spending any more assets on another goalie this offseason.
With Perreault a good player and would be an upgrade depending on who he would replace but he's 31 and has 2yrs left on his contract. There is a SLIGHT chance Detroit makes the playoffs in the 2020-21 season and it would be one and done. I think Detroit makes their first playoff appearance in 5 years during the 2021-22 season and I doubt they get out of the first round. So Perreault most likely be retired or on another team when by the time Detroit even makes the playoffs. So it makes no sense for a team that is still rebuilding to trade draft picks on a player they don't need (Comrie) and a player who will only be around a couple of seasons and will take away time from prospects that will most likely be there when Detroit makes a run.
I do think the trade was even and probably even leaned slightly towards Detroit. Under different circumstances I could see Detroit doing it but now it doesn't make sense for Detroit.
