This is great, and I look forward to watching this defense-core grow and improve.

Doesn't everybody else think there ought to be an automatic penalty for someone who votes "no" in the poll?

Like maybe you can only hit the "Like" button for a week.

But what if you think the pick is so bad that the ELC is a waste of a contract (particularly if the team is nearing the 50 contract limit and has the rights to other unsigned players you think are better)? That would be a ridiculous opinion to have about Byram, but for less well-regarded prospects, it's not impossible for signing a player to an ELC to be a worse move than not signing the player at all (though it is very unlikely), is it?

I was referring to a "No" vote on this specific player. But you are absolutely right -- some signings should get an automatic penalty for "Yes" votes. Imagine someone signing Nail Yakupov out of the KHL.

I'm not saying yes or no but is there a rush to have him on the big club? I would think not.

TBH ... Ottawa had the option to trade Turris to Nashville for the same package Colorado got ... so the trade could also look like:

Thompson (19th)
Abramov (65th)
Davidsson (170th)

for

Byram (4th)
Bowers (28th)
Kamenev (42nd)
Bergman (46th)
Girard (47th)
Hallander (58th)
Stienburg (63rd)
Hammond

LMAO ... THAT'S BRUTAL.

And that one day he plays Ottawa in the Stanley Cup Final, scores the series-clinching goal and wins the Conn Smythe
