Created by: zackleafs
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 19, 2019
Published: Jul. 19, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Ideally, he signs for as long as possible. I still think he would be overpaid if he signs any of these suggested contracts but I think this is fair for both sides.

If Aho got signed for 8.454x5, theres no way Marner can ask for that much. @FantasySens

Trouble for Mitch is, there might be not any other team who offers (and signs) him to any contract much different. So if those contracts aren't acceptable, playing ball hockey on his parents driveway might be his only option.

Even those offers are too high. He isn’t better than Nylander. Nylander is more proven and capable than a Marner, so Marner should get 8.75 million on an 8 year deal maximum.

To whom are those contracts acceptable for Marner? Because none of those contracts are actually acceptable for Marner... The kid has led the Leafs in points the last two seasons, plays on the PP and the PK and has trended up in each season... and Leafs fans want to sign him for under 10m just because he's a winger and not a center, and then proceed to **** on him when he won't accept a deal at 3m per season than he's worth.

And all of this because TOR went out and signed a player for 11m per year that they didn't need and now they want Marner to be the one to "suck it up" and accept less money just because he's a hometown boy.... smh.

Well you're right. There's no way he could ask for that. Until you're GM decided to give the 2nd best player on the team 11.634 mil over 5 years. Dubas made his bed...y'all are sleeping it in now.

If you think Nylander is better than Marner, you're opinion on any matter is no longer valid. PS: I hope you are trolling...

Leaf fans talk like Nylander is gonna be sick because he now gets to attend training camp. Its really odd

Actually not mad at all, I have no issues with Tavares going home to Toronto. Do I wish he handled the situation differently and let the Isles move him at the deadline to get some assets, yes, but I don't fault him for going home. My point was, as someone else mentioned, Dubas made his bed with Marner by signing Matthews for more than he was worth AND signing a player Toronto did not need AND assuming Marner would be the "good boy" because he's a "hometown kid" and take a discount to stay in TOR.

Leafs had a chance to sign the 2nd best goal scorer in the last 5 seasons so they did. Everything still works out. JT isn’t the problem

Translated

"Being that I am a sens fan, the only acceptable contract is one that is harmful to TO because I hate them and want to stir the pot." People in North America have too good of lives, who has the time to spend chirping people all day?
