Don't know why Senators can't understand that Ottawa and Edmonton are on every players "Can't be traded to list", if that player has a NTC or even modified NTC.

And yet Zaitsev is a Senator now so I guess, to my shock and horror, you're wrong. I'm sure you'll reply with some snarky comment that ignores what you originally stated as fact. It seems to be your jam...

Ha. Fair enough. I considered just making it DAL 2020 2nd round pick but that seemed iffy, and I can't see any team offering a 1st round pick for him at this point.

Zaitsev's M NTC didn't start to July 1st....hence there was no M NTC in place at that time of the trade. No, I'm not in shock and horror by any of your comments. Gee, you don't know much about your Senators and you certainly know anything about the other 30 teams the NHL. Fact is players know Sens have cap and good take back contracts in a trade....one reason Sens are on "the no trade list". But Sens GM Melynk (yea I know he's the owner) ain't taking any bad money in contracts. Sens could've had the Leafs 1st rounder for Marleau and his 3.5m in cash payout...but he didn't want that deal.

No Zaitsev waived his MNTC ahead of the trade. It was extremely well reported. And the trade happened AFTER the Leafs had paid his $3M signing bonus - which was due on July 1st. Feel free to google... or just keep pretending you know everything. Your call.

The trade may/may not have happened if the trade had happened after July 1st because of the bonus payment to Zaitsev. Leafs and Sens still could have made the trade prior to July 1....and apparently other teams were interested in Zaitsev. But Zaitsev's NTC did not kick to July 1. Zaitsev may have approved early for Ottawa because he didn't want to traded to Vancouver So Zaitsev dropped his NTC Ottawa prior July 1, and the trade was made after July 1st so the Sens could save 3m.

Only a unrealistic homer thinks an American...Backes who plays on Cup contender who waive for Kanata and the Senators. The post is atrocious as it saves the Bruins just 750,000 in a cap for two years and then they still have 5.25m Ryan for third year. That's bad enough for the Bruins to say no, and expect the Bruins to add a first rounder.shakes head
