The only reason I have Aston-Reese packaged with Gudbranson is because I don’t think the team will hold on to him since he’s going to arbitration. I agree that Johnson would most likely need to be packaged with Rust and a draft pick in order for Pittsburgh to get rid of him.

Is it because of DeMelo or do you think Ottawa just doesn’t have interest in Gudbranson?

I think DeMelo has a lot more value than that especially this year on that contract (which naturally Ottawa loves more because of Melnyk), they are pretty much at the cap floor anyway, so I have a hard time seeing them take a ton more cap back unless a team is really paying a lot for it.

That’s very true and probably means they’d more than likely hold on to Gudbranson. I still feel like ZAR doesn’t make it to the season in Pittsburgh due to his arbitration case though.

DeMelo is a RD capable of top 4 minutes making basically league min. Gudbransson is a 6-7 imo, and he's paid like he's a 3-4. ZAR is a 3rd liner at best, and he's not enough incentive to make this move.

If I'm Ottawa I want a 2nd minimum just for DeMelo, and more if I'm taking Gudbransson. Anything less you keep Melo and re-sign him. He won't be expensive.

Kings decline. Clifford is more valuable to the Kings than his trade value. He's not going anywhere.

If you want the Kings to take Johnson, include a good prospect age 20 or under (i.e. expansion draft exempt) and a 2nd round pick. If you want them to take a roster player (Rust/ZAR) or an overage prospect (Jarry), then make the pick a 1st.

Kings have no interest in Jack Johnson. They have interest in the assets that they can get for taking Jack Johnson off Pittsburgh's hands. Rust and a 3rd isn't enough.

The only reason ZAR is going to arbitration is because the penguins probably offered league minimum and the player knows he deserves more than that.
He won't get more than 1.25 million, so it's no big deal.
