Was Looch the issue for Pulju

Created by: Oilyboy
Team: 2019-20 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 21, 2019
Published: Jul. 21, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Looch was Jesse’s most common linemate (a blackhole for a playmaker), and the most vocal in the Oilers dressing room. Perhaps Jesse was intimidated or did not respond well to him. Only thinking this since Connor is the captain, but Looch seemed to be the vocal leader. So if moving Looch is something Jesse was hoping for, maybe now with Looch, McLellan and Chiapet gone, he will undestand EDM is his best shot at top 6 mins on the league. If he doesn’t, good luck having a career young man.

Nielson pointed out that Lucic really laid into JP sometimes after shifts last year which doesn't sound too pleasant for a guy who probably didn't understand half of what was said. So might be some hope that Lucic was the main reason JP didn't want to stick around.

Yeah that report is what I was thinking of. Like how can you lay into a kid for not performing when you can’t even take his passes...just hoping that was a major reason for Pulju’s agent’s statements. As it stood he was probably still gonna be Looch’s linemate if things didn’t change.

Yeah, some nice wiggle room for bonuses and maybe PTO’s or an early season trade. Wiggle room I highly doubt will be had in calgary after Tkachuk is signed ?

Didnt Puljujarvi say nothing the Oilers did this offseason would change his mind? I think the Oilers are better off selling him for what ever, some players just dont adapt to the NHL well

The agent did yeah, before the Looch trade. Evidently the main problem must have been a player relationship, not coaches or management. That was a month or two ago that that statement was made. This post is all about if Looch was the big issue for Jesse (as Looch liked to tear strips off of him on the bench). We shall see.
