Mitch will be under $10M and why trade Hyman for picks?

Not a bleeping chance that Marner gets under 9 million ur insane if u think that after leading team in points in back to back years and still producing in playoffs and unlike nylander who got 7 he plays defence also, and trading hyman for picks is strictly cap dump which no matter what Marner signs for we need, and don’t say kerfoot, kapanen or johnsson can go cause no they are better offensively then hyman and are in nice team friendly contracts for young players coming off nice 40+ point seasons

I said under $10M not $9M but they is what he should get. Please tell me why he deserves more than $10M

Also no need to trade Hyman they have the cap space and some

Marner signed at $9.5M with a little cap space open. Leafs will also gain about $500K from Hyman and Demott starting on LTIR and could always run with 22 man roaster to save even more for a little while

U can’t put dermott and hyman on LTIR they go on the IR which is still full aav against the cap so leafs are still screwed and u should have at least 2 guys extra on the team anyway cause injuries do happen

See for me the Marner contract is acceptable... but the fact you think Hyman is going to waive his FULL NMC

The imagine the debate on Marner on all these threads is similar to where both sides stand in negotiations. Management wants him closer to high-end wingers and his agent wants him closer to Matthers/Tavares since he's out performed both.

Big difference this year (compared to Nylander last year)...is that the leafs can't afford to sign him after the season starts. That funky RFA equation worked to both sides' benefit last year because the leafs had cap space last year and less available moving forward. If a deal doesn't get signed before the regular season I imagine he sits the whole year.

The 8 yr for 80 million Eichel copycat was fair, but if Marner wants less term than he must except less money. 8.5 to 9.5 million is the realistic amount for a 5 or 6 yr deal.

I agree Aho is a great comparison and once Point and Rantanen get done for around the same as Aho the discussion should be over
