I say dach gets 1-2 more years. You don’t wanna be a Edmonton and rush your picks when you probably won’t make the playoffs anyway

I'm usually quite weary of making kids take the NHL leap too early but If any team can do it and successfully develop them it's Chicago. You guys have so many top talented players and vets that they can play such a huge mentor role in their game for the first year or two. Additionally, you guys can play them in a more reserved role so that they can get used to the workload, speed and adversary (especially all the travel).

Dach is a big boy and has the NHL body. Definitely can make the leap in. Boqvist, skill and confidence wise looks ready but to learn under Seabrook will help him too.

However, i just don't think you can scratch De Haan

In theory I don't have an issue with any of this. I'd still like to see Boqvist get time in Rockford first. Get him used to playing with adults before he's on the top pair with Duncan Keith. Boqvist still has to work on his defensive game...which he won't be getting Power Play time until Gus is gone...so now the Hawks are being reliant on his defensive game which he needs to work on. Rockford will help that. I might be the only one here, but I also want to see Slater play more. He wasn't the worst Dman on the hawks last year and with a full summer of camp I think he'll be a serviceable Dman. Also, I'm fine with Dach making the team, but it's really only because Saad/Shaw are his line mates. They're a great fit for him.

De Haan is still injured. I think he's just factoring in that De Haan won't be available for a little while.

The way I see it this team is at a perfect crossroads where older players can help groom their future replacements. The core "depth chart" as I see it is...

Kane = DeBrincat, Nylander
Toews = Strome, Dach
Keith = Boqvist
Seabrook = Beaudin, Mitchell
