I'm a little surprised that Rutherford didn't offer him 6 years.

Still might, will probably end up trading Rust.

IDK, I've always felt as though ZAR isn't the type of player that the Pens should be after. Maybe its the dollar amount, but I am not sold on this signing as of yet.

If somehow Pettersson signs at 1.2-1.3 mil x 1-2 years, the Pens technically don't need to trade anyone to stay under the cap.
This was decent value for ZAR. The Tanev deal completely ruined any cap flexibility the Pens had.

only if they have like 0 extra players, which won't happen. And Pettersson won't take that... Two big ifs

I agree. Pettersson should not take a penny under 2 mil. A 3 x 2.5 AAV icontract is perfect tbh.
Someone is likely being moved and I think I'm mentally ready for GMJR to ruin my day by moving everything else but Jack Johnson.

That's not even remotely true. The penguins could fit everyone under the cap without trading anyone.

A little under what I thought he would get. It's a good deal for the penguins.

They could play him 2 mil a year right now and fit everyone under the cap.
He would easily fit, no issues.

Please explain how you are gonna make that work with paying Pettersson 2mil? Your plan is to just send down DeSmith (won't clear waivers) and Johnson?

who cares if DeSmith clears waivers. You act like that's losing something.
on top of it, I don't think anyone picks him up. He's not that good.
They planned on Jarry being the backup this year to begin with. That's why he was signed to a 1 way deal.

and yes, just send JJ and DeSmith down and you are there.

It is losing the backup for nothing. How do you figure they planned on Jarry being the backup this year when they JUST gave DeSmith a 3 year deal @ 1.25? How can you honestly say "he's not that good"? Do a quick research on his stats and compare them to Jarry then we can talk again.

They signed Jarry to a 1 way deal on the 2nd year. AKA they wanted him to back up.
The only reason DeSmith was the backup last year and not Jarry is they wanted jarry to play more in WBS. Jarry is the better goal tender.
I could care less about the stats. If you watched DeSmith play you know he's good enough to lose by 1. He never wins a tight game. On top of it his PK average is awful.

You don't care about stats ... lol okay then. So they probably signed DeSmith to a 3yr deal paying him 1.25mil cus they don't want him to play. Great logic.

DeSmith might be good enough to lose by 1 but Jarry isn't even good enough to have the chance to lose by 1.

That's not true at all. Jarry will be just fine.
They always knew they would move or lose DeSmith.

you are saying DeSmith's stats don't matter, the contract they gave him is cus they don't want to keep him and Jarry is better. You don't back up anything you say with facts or even valid points, you speak in hypotheticals and nonsense

Just because they signed DeSmith doesn't mean they intended on keeping him. Especially at that rate.
I'm sorry you don't get that. If they need to fit under the cap, that's how they do it. Period.
They aren't going to trade Rust to keep DeSmith or whatever non sense you want to keep going with.
By DeSmith, been nice knowing you, but he will either be in WBS or gone unless JJ is traded and they aren't giving anything up to trade him because they don't need to.

So unless Jarry has a huge increase in performance he has the worse record, but we still want to give up DeSmith (the better goalie) cause stats dont matter.

@Pharrow, I think DeSmith is better than Price. Forget the stats, look at how thicc DeSmith is. You have no idea how much I believe in his powers. That's what makes him better than Price
