they've given up a lot for a cup run including their 1st to clear cap for a Marner deal

i just dont see them taking a Gallagher level return for a guy like Marner

No way Gallagher gets that much

no real GM would counter that
they'd question if Dubas had a stroke and they just got lucky
but they wouldnt counter offer an ask that's way under market value

you wouldnt offer them even less because then they might wake up and start realizing there are 29 other NHL teams out there many of which that can offer more

they offered a deal for a 30 goal scorer not a 90 point player
they're WAYYYYYYYY off the mark .

why would a GM take that trade offer? you are sending a top 2 if not top 4 dman in severson thats locked up for 4 years (significant value on his deal) another young 3 year cost controlled left winger that has immense value on his deal and a 1st and a 2nd in the next two years. for a guy that has no contract. if they sign marner to a 10.5 x 5 they should say goodbye to hall now. How often do you see multiple established pieces being traded away from cup hopefuls for 1 guy? move doesnt make sense for the devils which is why they would counter.

Could've probably gotten more for Marner, but imo, Nylander has the ability to do what Marner did last season. Has more natural talent, is a better shooter and has a nice contract (just wait and see how valuable that contract will be in a year or two.) Marner is elite, yes, and is fantastic on the PP, but Nylander is also a beast. Had the best point/60 in the league in 17/18 or 16/17, I forget.
