Overview: Anyone else forget about the Red Wings too? I sure did. After making no big moves this past seasons (besides drafting Moritz Seider sixth overall), the Wings have yet to make the playoffs since Datsyuk left the team. The Wings are currently smack in the middle of their rebuild with players like Larkin, Mantha, Athanasiou, and Bertuzzi at the center of it. Detroit has done a very good job of diversifying their prospect pool(C, RW, LW, RD, LD) except when it comes to goalies. Detroit has taken a total of eight goalies since the 2012 draft with only three of them being selected in the first three rounds. The last goalie drafted by Detroit to play an NHL game was Petr Mrazek who was drafted back in 2010. Yikes!

1. How long before Detroit is considered a contender again?

2. Who will be the most impactful player for the Wings next season?

3. What can/should Detroit do about their goalie situation?

4. Is Rasmussen a bust? What’s his potential?

5. How much money will Athanasiou ask for next year? How much is he worth?

6. Will Mantha ever become the elite goal scorer he was projected to be?

7. Why didn’t Detroit make any big moves, or moves at all, during the offseason?

8. Who should be traded by the deadline this year?

1. Probably at least 2-3 years. That's at the very least. But you never know ...

2. Larkin

3. Try to trade for a young goalie. Maybe from a team who already has their future goalie.

4. Idk too much about him ... i know he was #9 overall in 2017 and that's about all i know.

5. Depends on the year he has. Right now he's probably worth 5-5.5M ...

6. He might. I think he'll score 30. He might have scored 30 if he had played all 82 games this year. I don't think he'll be a 40 goal scorer though. At least not a consistent 40 goal guy.

7. Waiting it out ... seeing how the team plays in 2019-20.

8. If they're in the playoffs, they shouldn't make any moves or make minor moves ... if they're out of the playoffs (which i think they will be), Mike Green is the guy i'm wondering about. Maybe Ericsson or Daley if another team has the cap space or if Detroit retains ... the contracts shouldn't be a big problem if a playoff team has cap space. If a team can't find anyone else for the right price, Ericsson/Daley could be an option as long as the other team has the cap space. The cap hit is gone after 2019-20 so as a rental it could work, or if it works out they could re-sign one of those guys at a more reasonable cap hit.

1. 3 years very least, if Yzerman could somehow recruit a young elite prospect, like Panarin this year. He could speed it up.
2. Larkin, although the other young players who are not proven yet will be the ones the GM is watching
3. Vancouver has 2 top 10 goalie prospects I think trying to land one of them would help them, like Thatcher Demko
4. Same as before idk 2 much sadly
5. I think this year will determine his contract if your a wings fan I would hope for less than 6500000 to get cap space

1. 3-4 years
2. Larkin
3. Keep drafting goalies. They have some promising netminders in the prospect pool, but goalies have weird development paths and you never know who'll pan out until they actually have.
4. Not yet. Ceiling is middle-6.
5. Worth ~$6m. Dunno what he'll ask for.
6. Maybe. Though he may not be in Detroit when/if it happens.
7. No point making big moves. Until they get rid of more bad contracts it's best to stay pat and give game time to youngsters to see what you have.
8. Green.
