That trade value is actually pretty good because of the salary retained. That's worth more than you think.

Agreed. If Montreal adds a 2nd rnd pick minimum we start a discussion. These players are a full tier away from each other. With Rangers adding a 4th yeah it’s kinda necessary. Unless you want to kill the retentions and just go 1v1. I’d consider it.

2 years of a capdump for a roster player ????? What’s wrong with you, Smith wont crack Mtl or Laval lineup. We don’t, at all, want Smith. It will take a 1st round pick or 2nd minimum, we dont care salary retained or not, he wont play
