NY Rangers 20-21 Part 2

Created by: aastorino1993
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 23, 2019
Published: Jul. 23, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is Part two of my description. This is the 20-21 season for the New York Rangers and what they should do after doing everything that we did in the previous year. I have made the Cap Ceiling at $82,500,000 because it may go up next year, but we aren't sure. Below will be the description of what they should do in the following year of the 19-20 season.
**Because the system doesn't retain everything I did in Part 1, I had to redo the trades and the burying of players/signing of players to make sure that everything is continuing from the first one I posted, so the trades and signing from Part one are below:
Signings:
Buch: $3,750,000 2 years - has 1 year left.
Deangelo: $2,750,000 3 years - has 2 years left.
Lemieux: $1,250,000 for 2 years - has 1 year left.
Lettieri: $900,000 for 2 years, has 1 year left.

Trades:
Vlad: to Minny for a 4th in 2020**Couldn't trade Vlad, so the Minny 4th round pick is traded for nothing to be included in the trade with Smith**
Strome: to Chicago for a 5th in 2021
Smith (Minny 4th, Buff 3rd): to Ottawa for a 7th in 2020
Belesky: Buried in the AHL from last year, so his contract is now off the books and the Rangers will not be signing him.

First order of Business: Signings/Extensions/Trades
IF and only IF the Rangers decide to keep
Extension:
Kreider, which I think they will, they will most likely resign him to a 5 year $6,500,000 deal or maybe even more. He is a vital piece and the way he plays compliments the Rangers roster and the way that it will be going. **For the sake of argument, I will sign him here at his ceiling of $7,000,000 because that's overpaying him, but on here we can**
Signings:
Fast: I believe the Rangers will want to keep him as he has been a good depth player for them over the years, so he will most likely be at a 2 year deal for about $2,125,000
Nils: At This time, I think the Rangers will be signing Nils Lundkvist to his ELC for $925,000 and he will probably start out in the AHL playing 50/50 with the AHL/NHL
Miller: K'Andre Miller will most likely sign to his ELC for $925,000 as well and play 50/50 AHL/NHL.
Trades:
Georgiev: The Rangers will hopefully find Igor as being the better fit for Hanks backup in his last year on contract, so I will trade his rights away to Carolina who will be looking for a solid backup goalie I believe.
Lias: I hope that Lias has a good year, but just in case he doesn't, the Rangers may trade him in the end, so I will trade him to Anaheim for a 3rd round pick. Doesn't mean that he will go there or they will trade him, but I believe he can bring back a third rounder for us or even a second. He was a previous 1st round pick and he is still young, so he has potential to be something down the road for a team or the Rangers.

Second order of Business: Evaluation
Now the Rangers are going to need to evaluate Chytil, Lias, Howden, Rykov, Kravstov for the year and see if they are worthy/good enough to stay or play in the NHL. I believe that Chytil will have a good year, but Howden and Lias can go either way. Kravtsov will have his first year in the NHL/AHL and it will be a big test for him, but I believe he will play 75% in the NHL. Rykov similar to Howden and Lias. Also, They will need to evaluate Libor and see what he does this year. In my opinion, the Rangers will most likely trade either Lias, Howden, or Hajek, or they will trade two out of the 3. The two candidates that come to my mind are Lias Andersson and Brett Howden.

Third order of Business: Buyout
I think at this point, depending upon their season, either Staal or Shattenkirk will be bought out. I think Shattenkirk will have a better season as he had a terrible start as a Ranger with the injury and it cutting into his offseason training. Now that he has a full offseason of training, I think he will come out and produce for them. That leaves Staal and I have bought him out in this scenario, which gives the Rangers approximately $2.5 Million in cap space for the year and only two more years of him on the books.

Next: Goalie Situation (Igor/Georgiev)
The Rangers may find that Igor is more capable of playing in the NHL than Georgiev.

Lastly: Filling the Roster
The Rangers at this point will have a couple of open roster spots with approximately $7,000,000 to do so. The 2020 Draft is very deep, so the Rangers may find a player there and the UFA/RFA is deep next year with several contracts ending. I think looking forward after this year, the Rangers will be in good standing with the cap. They may get a small UFA for $3,000,000 leaving them $4,000,000 to work with for other stuff and performance bonuses.

** I did not fill out the roster as I just wanted to get my point across of in my opinion who should go, and who should stay/get extended. Please stay clear of the actual filling of the roster as I don't have enough information to do so. Also, please comment on the signings/trades/ and the Staal buyout***

read the description next time. I didn't fill out the roster because there are too many variables that go into next year. They could sign RFA's and they could sign UFA's, there are just too many variables and Id rather explain it that way rather than look at the comments of why I would sign certain guys. These are mostly for the descriptions and what I think the Rangers will/should do going forward.
