Description

Defence is still quite rough, and we still have basically no cap space, but based on the fact that Hornqvist is a fan favorite, and is a locker room presence people just look over the fact that he makes about 1.5-2 mil too much, is regressing, and will probably regress even more sharply next year and is extremely injury prone, so I traded him for another fan favorite that's also overpaid, but makes less for a shorter term (and PIT fans will probably want soon him out bc he won't be what they remembered from a few years ago and we don't have HBK anymore) and you don't have to worry as much about Hornqvist waiving his NTC bc from what I heard he loved it in NSH etc...

Realistic, not sure. They have to sign Josi after this season, so Bonino for a late pick is more realistic

I would be curious to find Nashville's interest in Hornqvist, but would be reluctant to trade him. His dedication and work ethic is what the Penguins are trying to return to. His concussion history is a concern, but they could put him on LTIR if needed. The cap savings makes it worth consideration down the road. This is a good post because I think Hornqvist would go back to the Preds if we asked.
