Bracco and Ceci combined as a net package might get you a 4th round pick. I would expect Edmonton fans to be in disbelief with this trade proposal.

Really? On the site, somehow Ceci is deemed to be awful. Ceci was 7g 19a and a minus 22. Larsson 3g 17a minus 28. Yea I know figures aren't everything but are those two Dmen is there THAT much difference?
Larsson has two years till UFA, Ceci one. The determining factor would be what the Oilers think of Bracco. Is one of the top scorers in the AHL an NHLer? Sure the Oilers might get more in a trade, but for some reason folks think all Leafs Dmen are so bad but all other RHD when traded to the Leafs are Norris candidates.

Is Larsson an upgrade over Ceci though? Larsson isn't that good, he never has been and at this point probably never will be. Best case with Larsson is he finds a partner who will do all the hard work and he'll be able to just defend and hit people while playing against 2nd liners.

Ceci is younger and was on a terribly coached team that was also really bad. I don't think he's going to be much either but he could surprise a little at which time you can move him for a better player than Larsson without giving up Bracco who I think will be a mainstay next season when Kapanen could be traded.

If Holland trades Larsson for Ceci and Bracco Oilers fans would swear Chiarelli was still in the building. This is a horrific awful ****ty trade that sends significantly more value to the Leafs that what is coming back.

How? What kind of quantifiable evidence is there that Larsson is an upgrade over Ceci? Possession wise? They are both terrible? Offensively? Nope. Hits? Yes Larsson hits a lot but there isn't anything else to his game. He wasn't a good player when Edmonton traded for him and he didn't progress.

Larsson is just a 2nd pair defensive defenceman at best.

But why? What has Larsson done to become so loved by Oiler fans? He cost you Hall in the worst trade in this era and for some reason you guys love him. That is despite any evidence he's anything but a average 2nd pair defensive defenceman who gets eaten alive by top talent. I just don't get it.

Larsson has been asked to play top line D minutes since he got to Edmonton, and until this past year, has at least held his own. Ceci, playing as the 3th - 6 th defenseman, has been unimpressive every year. I would agree that Larsson is better suited as a 3-4 D, Ceci is better suited as a 5-7 D. And Ceci make more money. There is 1 year's difference between the 2 of them so future potential does not play a part in this, and based on their entire NHL careers, Larsson seems to be the more reliable defenseman, while playing against tougher opponents. I agree with Palhal, lots of posters undersell Toronto players and over sell the players proposed in trades going to Toronto. And Larsson will forever be linked to Hall, which likely artificially inflates the perceived value of Larsson. Still, comparing Larsson to Ceci and suggesting they are the same calibre defenseman is not realistic.

I don't think Ceci is equal to Larsson, I think Larsson is better but its like comparing different types of Honda Civics. They aren't all that great to begin with so which one is better between the limited and the SE is a silly debate. Neither are special players so in my opinion moving Ceci and Bracco for Ceci with leather seats and a better sound system is wasting one of the top guys in the minors.
