If I were Stan BowmanFull LineupDepth

Description
I like having center depth on each line . Also I think it's still too soon to rush some of the young talent up the ranks. Allow them to develop in Rockford and come up in the next two years. Win the AHL championship and prove you're winners.
I'm fine moving Smith off the PP and finding a different solution. But with this roster, we have depth at all positions. It can be easy to move pieces around and still put out a winning line-up.

Thoughts?

Biggest complaint is I think Koekkoek should be the 7th defencemen, and then maybe Saad on that first PP, rotate Caggiula and Smith on that second PP?

Perfectly agree with Koekkoek option. He was the odd man out.
I like keeping Caggiula with Kane and Toews because it creates consistency and familiarity with linemates.
Plus after the powerplay you need to keep things rolling as a coach so this makes that much easier. Its far too often you see teams lose momentum after a powerplay because they don't score. You need a solid 3rd line to maintain that as well as after goals typically. With this line-up, it's hard to not make the argument the Hawks will have one of the most complete rosters in the NHL.

Saad shouldnt be on the fourth line, lowest he should go is third line. I dont get the Boyle signing and doubt he signs for that little for 1 year. Murphy over Seabs in the top 4. Those PP lines are not my favorite either. Why not stick with the 4 forwards 1 D that scored them a lot of goals?

I think too many people get caught up in a line number. The blackhawks will have 2-3rd lines with this roster. He could easily be put with Smith or Carpenter as well as Perlini, Kubalik, Kampf, Wedin and many more. This roster stacked and you need the depth that Boyle can provide while still maintaining that players like Wedin, Sikura, Entwistle, Hagel, Quenneville, Kurashev, Highmore and Nylander can properly develop in Rockford without being sacrificed to minimal minutes in Chicago.

With that said, this team has the ability to be a cup contender imo. Having a vet like Boyle will help give you that drive in playoffs plus he's an experience center which we need those battles.

4d powerplay can still be used and I agree we will probably see much more of it and possible a full 5 forward powerplay this season. What makes using that method tough is what lines do you place after the powerplay. He can create a struggle with changes on the bench as far as who changes for the D and when. It's very difficult to do. Teams that keep it simple are the ones who have success.

Saad is definitely not a 4th liner. The only reason he played on the 3rd line last year was to try to make 3 scoring lines but for all intents and purposes he's a top 6 player.
