Description
Rangers are in a pretty big cap hell right now, not gonna lie. If Buchnevich is making 3 mil, you have to trade out Namestnikov for virtually nothing but picks. Beleskey and Smith also need to be buried (i don't know how else you are getting rid of Smith's contract). Oh and your other two RFAs gotta sign for close to 1 mil.

Vlad is worth a bit more, not to the avs, and that 4th line is getting you nowhere

Buchnevich contract is about right (maybe 200k high)

Lemieux contract is about right (maybe 200k hight)

Deangelo contract is about 1.5 mil too low.

That puts you over the cap. So you have to trade Strome. Which is fine because Kravtsov (weirdly not listed here) slots right in. McKegg also probably in AHL. And Fox is with the NHL club most likely.

2 of Staal, Smith, Shattenkirk, Strome, Namestnikov and Kreider being sent out will free up the money needed. Staal is the best buyout candidate, however the most unlikely. Strome and Namestnikov could be moved for mid round picks or maybe a prospect in need of a “change of scenery.” Kreider has his own trade market and could easily be moved if the expectation for return is lowered.
Unlike Toronto, we have plenty of money coming off the books next year to pay the buyout penalty for smith or Staal.
So, it looks bad but it’s not as bad as it looks. One buyout and one trade and this year is tight and then money starts to open up over the next two seasons to pay the guys coming off ELC’s.

See i figured I would have to trade Strome but I didn't know how much DeAngelo was worth. I also didn't think Fox and Kravtsov were NHL ready right now. I think Fox probably starts in the minors and is called up after a trade cuz there's no room for him on the blueline rn. Vlad for a 4th was mainly due to the cap situation, as every team knows how badly they need to make a trade, so they are going to be getting less of a return. Vlad for a 3rd is more fair IMO but due to the situation i have it as a 4th.

That's OK.
Fox is significantly more ready than Hajek. The only thing that would keep Hajek ahead of Fox on the depth chart is handedness. Rykov vs. Hajek is the more interesting battle in camp.
Kravtsov is as much of a lock for a top 9 guy opening day as you'll find.

TBH there really is no difference in value between a 3rd and 4th round pick. NHL teams know this. I don't think it's a big issue. Rangers are taking their time.

Okay, I changed up my trades a bit. This might be better than my first version, lemme know what you think. I still don't know how you are getting out from under one of those defensive contracts though.

Seems a little low on the compensation for both. The only contracts you actually have to try to get away from is Smith and Staal. Shattenkirk has more value to the team than on the market.

I think it's pretty fair value for Strome. Lagesson is a great prospect, and Puljujarvi for Lemieux is pretty fair 1 for 1. I think overall its squares out. Also I don't think those three are tradeable contracts, considering they all have NTC and its not like they would want to play for the teams that have the space for them. I don't think there's a market for them.

lol where are you getting your prospect information from? Lagesson wouldn't break the Rangers top 25 prospects. Chris Bigras was literally dumped for nothing and he's a better player than Lagesson. Please work on your evaluations if you're just going to throw prospects in deals.

Lemieux vs. Puljujarvi is tough because of JP's back problems. Back problems can absolutely derail a career.
