There is a good chance Kesler is healthy enough to play, only works if he is absolutely 100% done

It's not that Petan will or won't play for the Leafs coach, it's just that our 4th line becomes super small when he subs in for Gauthier. Both Moore and Ennis don't hit 5'10, and that's not Babcock's style for a 4th line. IF and it's a big IF, the Leafs gave Engvall and/or Marchmant a shot on the 4th line, I could see a situation where Petan slots on a more regular basis. Also, Bracco is NHL-ready. If there was ever a player that's deemed a "not a Mike Babcock" kind of player, it's Jeremy Bracco. I don't think he gets to training camp, I think he's traded before camps start.

I believe Anaheim got back a specialist opinion already which indicated Kesler would be gone this year 100% and likely, done for his career.

Well if that's the case, Leafs throw in Ceci ducks can keep the picks and send Mason instead

First off it's been reported that Kesler wont waive his NMC for any Canadian team, And secondly way too much for the Ducks to give up for a players who's career is likely over. No way Anaheim does this. I seriously doubt Kesler would even waive. Toronto or Southern California. Yeah very little doubt as where he stays or goes.

He isn't even playing. This move is to save money. Kesler would definitely waive... IDK why he wouldn't. He doesn't have to move

Kesler ain't leaving California. That's his home. Why bother and why take the change that he might return at some time....which is another reason Kelser won't waive.

Trading for Kesler will put us too much over the cap prior to players being eligible for LTIR at the start of the season

LTIR cripples cap flexibility so it would be foolish to acquire Kesler for little incentive.

He misunderstood you he thought you were giving Marner a 10.5×1 when you said you were bridging him at 7.8×1 then signing him to a 10.5×5 extension.

Anaheim is not one of those rich teams, so I think paying Kesler and potentially Eaves (who also may be out the full season) I am sure does not sit well with ownership. Is Ceci, Bracco and one of their 11 2020 draft picks enough to land them Josh Manson and Ryan Kesler? I think yes, but the Leafs can only go 10% over cap with LTIR.

@Banks @Jarvis isn't LTIR unlimited? I'm pretty sure it is

I can see Bracco, a 4th, a third, and Ceci for Manson, Kesler, and eaves

It is my understanding that while LTIR is unlimited, which is not what I was suggest, your physical, playable roster cannot go more than 10% over the cap. As for your proposal, it is not guaranteed, as far as I know, yet at least, that Eaves will 100% start the season on LTIR and remain there all year.
