OTTAWA GOES ALL IN for first overall

Created by: Ccc
Initial Creation Date: Jul 25, 2019
Published: Jul 25 at 5:14 pm
Team: 2019-20 Ottawa Senators
Team Explanation
The scratches are Ottawa’s Future, I have to see atleast 3 Forwards and 2 Defensemen panning out to be “elite” or top line material if all goes wrong as a WORST case scenario.

  1. Bear, Ethan

EDM
  1. Tierney, Chris ($937,500 retained)
OTT
  1. Ranta, Sampo [Reserve List]
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Ottawa gets a top 10/15 prospect from Colorado depending on what I’ve heard, and a pick.

*Condition: If the Colorado Avalanche advance to the WCF the Ottawa Senators will receive a 1st Round Pick in 2020 instead of second round pick.*
COL
  1. Anderson, Craig ($2,000,000 retained)
  2. Pageau, Jean-Gabriel
Additional Details:
Ottawa retains Anderson to increase trade return.
Colorado gets Anderson back possibly before retirement; to back up Grubauer for their cup run (maybe he gets a cup too going back to Colorado).
Additionally they gain a skilled forward to increase their depth and 1 year as well, not being locked into a contract if they chose not to keep him long term.
OTT
  1. Reaves, Ryan
  2. Holden, Nick
  3. McNabb, Brayden
  4. 2020 1st round pick (VGK)

Additional Details:
Ottawa gives Vegas above 6 mil in cap relief and gives Demelo to “replace” McNabb
OTT
  1. Namestnikov, Vladislav

that avs trade is terrible. I wouldnt give up a 2nd for Pageau and having to take on that terrible goalie in Anderson...never mind giving up a 2nd + a decent prospect.

Ottawa certainly need no help locking up last overall. They’re about to go a full season without stone and Duchene and their biggest offseason addition was Ron Hainsey.

Just why would VGK do that trade? McNabb is as good or better than Demelo

It’s not about McNabb being worse, he is better but the other 2 are restraining them, and Demelo is young whereas McNabb is 30 at the end of this contract and additionally it gives them more cap relief it’s more a sideways move in terms of McNabb and a relief in cap as the advance

McNabb is under a great contract, DeMelo is UFA after this year and will cost more than McNabb when re-signed.

VGK doesn't benefit from this trade at all.

Trade for Sobotka and Scandella from Buffalo. That'll sink you to the bottom in no time!
