Might as well pay Marner 2m more so you have a roster of 18.

I believe you could get Marner away from the Leafs without an offer sheet at this point and give up less. Maybe 3 years of 1st rounders: 2020, 2021, 2023 and a mid range prospect.

The only thing worse than the contract you just gave Marner is going and getting a Gaudreau-esque top line winger and then putting the two of them together leaving the Flames with the same problem that they had in the playoffs (one line does most of the scoring, stop them and stop the Flames). Put him with Tkachuk and Backlund for goodness sakes!

As other's mentioned, Rittich will likely end up paid close to what Talbot is making so this team isn't even cap compliant.
