I thought that Sonny would be a very likable player in the minors for NY, as a hometown boy.

Beggars can’t be choosers when it comes to clearing cap. Plus I’d take a flyer on a hometown kid arbor a position where don’t really have any prospects of interest...

Moving Namestnikov with no salary retention? Absolutely. He’s a fine player but he’s somewhere else next year anyway so let’s take a chance on a guy who has some talent.

While I would prefer a 3rd or 4th Rounder, moving Namestnikov's salary is the real reward here. So if that means taking on a kid who we could just easily bury in the minors, then I will take it.
