I can't see Day and a 7th being enough to convince Ottawa to take Smith unless they need to hit the bottom floor, and they're definitely not giving a higher pick back.

Rangers get back a 7th and give up a 4th (at least). May need to move someone like Lindgren who has slightly more upside at this point than Day.
